Using the Internet and other sources, write a 400-word report about the difficulties that the first four United States presidents had in developing the West, including relations with the Native Americans. Especially research the Treaty of Greenville and the Treaty of Colerain in Washington's administration. Also research at least one significant treaty from the administrations of Adams, Jefferson, and Madison. Tell the outcome of each treaty and how it did or did not help in the further development of the West.

Treaty of Greenville was a peace treaty between the United States and Native Indians of the U.S. Northwest Territory.  Treaty of Colerain outlined friendly terms which was signed between the US Government and the Creek people.

Treaty of Greenville ended the Native American war facilitating the expansion further into the west. But in true it failed to put an end to the relentless conflict that occurred between the Native Americans and American Settlers.

Treaty of Colerain is a peace treaty and a treaty of friendship that was outlined between the US government and the Creek nations. The administration of Washington had already came into a friendly terms with the Creek people however, factually the people of Cherokee nation ended up in having an endless scuffle with the Government because, they were not given priority amidst the settlers.

the california missions began in the late 18th century as an effort to convert native americans to catholicism and expand european territory. there were 21 missions in all, lasting from 1769 until about 1833.   the missions were built by the spanish starting in 1769 in order to “colonize” the territory of alta california. so the missions were important because they were the means of settling california. it also wanted to keep other european countries out of alta california. building settlements along the coast would them meet these goals. missionaries wanted to convert the indians to the roman catholic faith. california indians did much of the work to build missions.
