George Washington was the first president of the united states. But before becoming president, he showed leadership to America by being in charge of the continental army during the revolutionary war. After he and his army won the war against Britain, he once again showed leadership when he became president of the united states. There were many things to be done now that America was a free country, and Washington was there to help out.
