What total number of years must you remain on active duty after selection to limited duty officer?

Selected Officers must agree to remain on active duty for a total of 4 years from the date of acceptance of appointment and may be required to transfer from current duty location.

Explanation:

Limited duty officer (LDO) is an officer of the U.S navy who are technically oriented and specially chosen based on the skills and experience they have. They do not attend other induction program known as the officer candidate school, rather they attend a specialized school as commissioned officers together with the Chief Warrant Officers (CWOs).  Bachelor’s degree is not a requirement for one to apply for the induction program although it is encouraged.  

CWOs selected to become LDOs must meet all the stated requirements and also accept to remain on active service from the day they accepted the appointment until a period of 4 years.
