Because the victims have been through stuff and you really don't want to hit a spot and hurt them.

Victims of things like domestic violence are going to feel vulnerable and lonely. Being empathetic will help the victim open up more as well as help them feel less alone. Once the victim is able to open up, we may be able to better assist them in recovery and learn more ways to help them deal with their trauma.
