Level 4 Lauren is studying the deer population at a large national park. This year, the number of deer at the national
park is 4900. She has found that y = 4900(0.92) is an equation that models the population over time,
where x represents the number of years since she started collecting data (x = 0 represents "today') and y
represents the number of deer remaining at the national park,
How many years will it take for the deer population to decrease below 500?
(Hint: Substitute 500 into the equation and solve. Does the 500 go in the place of z ory? Recall what each
variable represents!)
