Okay so first you need to find the height of the triangle (pythagorean theorm) a^2+b^2=c^2 so here we're looking for b
2^2 + b^2= 4^2 
4+ b^2= 16
-4           -4
b^2=12 square root both b=appx 3.4 
now we have the height and the base
area formula for a triangle is 1/2bh
4*3.4= 13.6 since there are 3 shaded triangles multiply by 3
