Cuba is suffering under harsh Spanish rule, and the United States is morally obligated to help Cuba shake off its oppressor. Also, the territories that the United States would gain in defeating Spain would benefit the nation, bringing investment opportunities for U.S. business interests, new markets for U.S. goods, and access to valuable resources.
