Comparing the ideology of west and east means comparing the ideology of capitalism and communism.

Caputalism is good in a way that it promotes a situation just like in the Jungle, where the strongest group that managed to collect the most resources will thrive while the others is eliminated.
Communism is good in a way that it created for the collective goods of all members in the society.

That's being said, both of this ideology possess certain defects.
For example, in Capitalism, the resources that obtained by the previous generation would be transferred to direct inherited, which makes them unqualified to posses that resources to begin with.
In communism, despite the good intend, it promote a sitaution where peope too depended on the Government and killing market's motivation to compete and improve, which cause most nations that apply this ideology to crumble.
