In the 60s, there were many environmental problems. It was found that DDT, a chemical used for insecticide, had many adverse effects on the environment. In 1969, the Cuyahoga River "caught fire." Nixon established the Environmental Protection Agency, which helped to regulate cleaner air and overall a cleaner environment overall. Because of this movement, we have better regulations today that help us live better and cleaner lives. Although our pollution is bad, many other countries have it worse such as China and their smog problem. This movement helped spread the growing problem of environmental corruption and it definitely seems to have worked.
