Abraham Lincoln was assassinated on 15th April 1865 at Ford's Theater, Washington DC. He was the sixteenth president of the US. He led the nation during the American Civil War. He was assassinated by Jon Wilkes Booth, who was a famous actor and a supporter of the confederacy. He was attacked five days after the surrender of Robert Lee's army. He is credited with preserving the Union, abolishing slavery, modernizing the American economy and strengthening the federal government.
