Well, cold climates have made the people in those areas, seek heat, water might be scarce bc it may be frozen, wood is very important for fire, hunting animals may be good for food, tools, an clothes to keep warm of course. And even different means of transportation, different jobs available, no outdoor pools in Iceland lol.
