Hey, I am halfway done with my essay and I was just wondering if anyone could give me pointers on how it sounds. It's supposed to be a persuasive essay on skipping a year before college. College Persuasive Essay

A gap year gives students the opportunity to think and refresh their minds to better prepare themselves for college. They are beneficial for many students around the world. Students take gap years in order to become better equipped in their field. For some American high school students, applying for college or scholarships seems like a full-time job. Many students get stressed out preparing for their SATs, AP classes, and making sure their grades are up to par. With a gap year, students can take time off, as well as get better grades later on when they decide to continue college.
Everyone may have a different reason to take a gap year, however, a really good reason to do so is that it gives you an opportunity to gain skills and knowledge, while also giving you time to reflect on your decisions. A recent study by the Cooperative Institutional Research Program at UCLA found that only 3% of American students take a year off before heading to college. However, the students that did take a gap year outperformed the college 4.0 GPA scale by an average of 0.1 to 0.4. While there may be students who don’t return to college, because they are either too nervous or are too lazy to, over 90% of the students who do take gap years return. These students take time off to rethink their choices, to travel, and experience other cultures. It is important to have different experiences, especially after you finish high school since going into college is a big step in life. All of this proves that taking a gap year is effective by giving you a GPA boost in college and refreshing your mind in order to maintain this effect.
Why should you go back to school if you already have a well-paying job? Why should you go back if it’s just going to cause stress in your life? It can be hard to get back on track after you’ve had a taste of what it’s like to live on your own without having to worry about school for the first time in your life. It may be hard to get the motivation to start college since there are many things that can prevent you from doing so. However, if you don’t go to college you may not get the chance to get a well-paying job early in your life. You may have to wait years before you get the opportunity to find one. This is one of the risks that you should understand before deciding to continue with a gap year which can be prevented by spending your time wisely and keeping a good schedule during the year. Many people oppose gap years because they think that you will get behind and lose momentum. This may be true for some people who lose motivation, however, as I stated above, over 90% of students who take gap years return to college.
