Is it a good idea to change your planned reasons if you find more evidence for a different idea? Why or why not?

I personally think that yes, you are able to go out on a whim and change your reasons. New evidence pops up all the time, and that is how we get new ideas. If it weren't for being able to change our course of action, we would all be constantly bored and wanting to strive for something new.
