Sulekah had been referred to as Bholi as she was a little  behind her peer group in her mental attributes owing to a part of her brain been damaged due to a fall when she was ten months old. An attack of small pox left her permanently scarred too. Her speech was faulty and she stammered while speaking and was ridiculed for it. She had no encouragement or support from her parents and consequently she was a timid girl with low self -esteem and totally devoid of confidence. It was a twist of fate that Bholi’s future was made better when her father was forced to enroll her in the primary school for girls  upon the insistence of the Tehsildar.At school, it was with her teacher’s encouragement that she gained confidence and developed a sense ofself-esteem. The transformation is evident when she refuses to marry Bishamber, who being greedy and selfish commanded no respect from her. She got determined to be a teacher in the school where she had imbibed the most invaluable lessons of her life. She also deserves the honour for her wisdom and her sensibility and obligation in supporting her parents in their old age

.Valli’s deepest desire was to undertake a bus ride at least once. Her desire to experience a bus ride was realized by systematic and organised planning. She had collected all the useful information by observing and planning and making discreet inquiries about the time of the bus, the duration of the journey as well as the fare. She was focused and saved every penny to finance her trip and finally accomplished it by efficient execution of her plans. Valli embodied characteristics of spunk and strategic approach in achieving her desire, though she was only a small girl of eight. two paragraphs to compare and contrast the narrator's schools would be this, the one school with the veil is the one school were the students were forced to wear the veils, and they did not know why they had to wear the veils. the girl student writing the story was not like the other students, she didn't care. in the second school there was a lot of hostile activities going on throughout the school. most of the students were upset and this, including the author, but she was trying to look and the good side of things.  

overall, both schools had something that the students or most of the students did not like or appreciate. what you can learn from these stories is that life will never be exactly how you may want it to be. complaining about your lifestyle will only make matters worse or at least feel worse in the long run. that's happens to be the information you can interpret from these two stories.
