Many people think of poetry as words arranged to sound beautiful and carry deep meaning, Poets use rhyme and rhythm to create interesting and appealing sound patterns, and they repeat words and phrases to add emphasis or make the poem more musical. But poetry is more than just beautiful-sounding words. Some poets use "free verse, or word arrangements with no particular pattern; others create prose poems, which are poems that are written in paragraphs instead of lines. Some poems are even written in the shape of the poem's subject, like a poem about an airplane shaped like an airplane. If you read all different kinds of poetry, you will have a much broader appreciation for the art
