This is shown through a family where children need to help with housework to earn their allowances, they need to pay for what they want and they need to be careful with their things, because nothing will be easily won and if lost it will be lost forever.

In this concept, the protagonist of the short story sees a bicycle basket with drawings of daisies. The girl very much wants that basket and begs her mother to give it as a gift, but the mother says that she must collect the allowance she receives and compare it with her own money, if she wants the basket.

The girl does this and after having all the necessary money and buying the basket she sees that her friend has a similar basket, the girl is sad because she was not the first to have the basket, but her mother shows how his basket is more special, because it was bought with her own money and earned with her own effort.
