During the Red Scare, the immigrants like Sacco lie to the police because they feared being deported and sent back to their country of origin. The Red Scare happened during the World War I where Nicola Sacco and Bartolomeo Vanzetti  was convicted because of the murder during the robbery of two employees of the shoe warehouse.
