Ancient greek myths continue to inspire popular culture. choose two adaptations we have discussed in class. write an essay detailing how each adaptation uses ancient mythical events and characters for popular entertainment, and the extent to which each adaptation modifies the myth in order to appeal to modern audiences.

answer the following question for each adaptation:
• how was the ancient mythological material developed into modern, popular characters and narratives?
• what do you think the most significant changes are in each adaptation?

then answer one of the following for each adaptation:
• if you are discussing a hero myth, how was the conception of heroism changed?
• think of ancient heroism vs. modern conceptions of heroism?
• what is attractive about etiological myths that are no longer used?
