Part 2 – developing body paragraphs
directions: use your planning in part 1 to write your two body paragraphs. use complete sentences, proper grammar and punctuation, and transitions to develop your body paragraphs. each body paragraph should have a transition at the beginning of the topic sentence and at least two within each paragraph

here is what i said in part one (if you can fix anything do)

body paragraph 1
● topic sentence: taylor uses personal experiences to encourage her readers to take action

last week, as my best friend areliss and i headed to class, a group of college protesters blocked our path. their signs read "go home" and "illegals leave.""

● explanation of how the example serves purpose: the example shows that she has experienced what she is writing about.

● example from text to support topic sentence: "my dream is that daca will be reinstated. my dream is that areliss will be invited to stay in the country she was born in and live out her dreams in the country she loves."

● explanation of how the example serves purpose: it shows she has passion behind what she says and makes the readers want to support her dream and take action.
body paragraph 2
● topic sentence: taylor also uses metaphors and similes to make the situation be more surreal.

● example from text to support topic sentence: "their words were bullets to areliss's heart"

● explanation of how the example serves purpose: this shows her anger for how people treated immigrants.

● example from text to support topic sentence: "pamphlets like tattered flags"

● explanation of how the example serves purpose: she is using this metaphor to show that the pamphlets people were waving is like a torn flag a glimpse of its once held glory.
