. A sheet of HCP Ti 2 mm thick was exposed to a chloridating gas atmosphere on one side and a de-chlorinating atmosphere on the other side at 800 oC. After having reached steady state, the Ti sheet was rapidly cooled to room temperature. The concentration of chlorine at the two phase of the sheet were determined to be 0.678 kg Cl/m3 and 0.350 Kg Cl/m3 . a. Compute the diffusion coefficient if the diffusion flux is 2.6 x 10 -7 Kg Cl/ m2 s. b. Determine the diffusion pre-exponential factor if the activation energy for the diffusion of Cl in HCP Ti is 90,450 j/mol. c. Determine the diffusion coefficient at 750 oC.

Ican determine the molar mass of an element by looking on the under the atomic mass for the element. for example the molar mass of phosphorus is 30.974 grams/mole. avogadro’s number tells me the amount of representative particles in 1 mole of any substance. this means 12.011 gram sample of carbon and a 32.0 gram sample of sulfur have the same number of atoms.
