How are aquifers, groundwater, and watersheds impacted by drought?

Groundwater in aquifers doesn’t get replaced if there’s no rain. So the level of groundwater drops as it’s drawn out to replace the surface water that isn’t there. Watersheds from where water drains from are also affected by drought due to lack of rain clouds. The vegetation dries up and water draining from the region dries up.

Drought is defined as a condition formed due to a continuous period of dry weather and area gets less amount of rain than normal, over long period of time.

Droughts affect the height of the under groundwater levels. during drought wells are allowed to pump water at its faster rate that allows the aquifer around to get recharged by other underground flow, that results in lower level of groundwater. Drought affects several watershed and dries up the lakes and rivers present in the earth that indirectly affect flora and fauna present in watersheds.
