For my psychology class i need to know the parts of the brain. one of the assignments is to make a song about the parts of the brain. i am not expecting someone to write an entire song for me. i just need ideas. parts of the brain vocabulary: left and right hemisphere amygdala- linked to emotions hippocampus- linked to memory corpus callosum- axon fibers connecting the two cerebral hemispheres thalamus- relays messages between lower and brain centers and cerebral cortex hypothalamus- controls maintenance functions such as eating; govern endocrine system; linked to emotion and reward pituitary- master endocrine gland reticular formation- control arousal medulla- controls heartbeat and breathing spinal cord- pathway for neural fibers traveling to and from brain; controls simple reflexes cerebellum- coordinates voluntary movement and balance and supports memories of such. cerebral cortex- ultimate control and info-processing center. brocas area- controls language expression or speech wernickes area- language reception. ^both areas found in the left temporal lobe^ corpus callosum- neural fibers that connects the 2 brain hemispheres. association areas- higher mental function like learning, thinking, remembering, and speaking. limbi system- located below the cerebral hemispheres associated with emotions and drives includes hippocampus, amygdala, and hypothalamus.
