Design a controlled experiment to test the hypothesis that water acidification caused by acidic rain would inhibit the growth of Elodea, a freshwater plant.

Take two pots both having Elodea, a freshwater plant. In one pot fresh water is applied to the plant while on the other hand, slightly acidic water is supplied to the other pot. Maintain all environmental conditions similar to both of them in order to gain accurate results.
