There are different cycle processes on earth. One of them is the season cycle. Seasons are the result of the Earth´s movement of translation and the inclination of the Earth´s axis with respect to the plane of the orbit. The solar radiation reaches perpendicularilly the surface in different regions of the earth, during an annual cycle. This differential heatting produces the seasons. When it is winter in the northern hemisphere, it is summer in the southern hemisphere. When it is autumn in the northern hemisphere, it is spring in the southern hemisphere. And the exact opposite this occurs. Also, due to the shape of the orbit, summers are warmer in the southern hemisphere.

So, imagine the Earth as a circle. Now imagine that this circle is crossed by a longitudinal line (the earth axis). This axis points to the north pole and to the south pole. Now imagine that this axis is not exactly vertical, but it is inclined.

This circle (the earth) is in an orbit, which has an ovoid shape. This ovoid shape has two extremes, let us call them extreme A and B. Inside the orbit, there is the sun. But the sun is not in the middle. Instead, it is nearer to one of the arbit extremes, let us say it is closer to the B extreme.
