You are visiting Florida. You observe that many of the baby alligators have more than one tail. After doing research, you learn that a nearby farm has been dumping waste into the ecosystem. The waste contains bacteria that have been known to cause mutations in mice and rats. You take fifty alligator eggs back to your laboratory. You place 25 of the eggs into a container with water and sand without bacteria. You place the other 25 eggs into a separate container that has water, sand, and the bacteria. You wait several weeks until the alligators hatch and then count how many of the baby alligators have more than one tail.
