Do you agree that learning sign language could impede deaf children from learning english? why or why not?

I think that in some ways, learning sign language would be an easier bridge to learning English. In sign language, you connect symbols with real-world objects. Once a child has established that and learned sign language, it could be much easier for them to connect words with objects and the world around them. Also, if doctors are concerned about sign language impeding their ability to learn English, they could always recommend raising your children bilingually.
