Well as many already know, there are African influences all over Latin America. The Spanish dialect alone contains many borrowed words from the African dialects as well. The word "gandules" which roughly translates to pigeon peas in English, comes from the African word "gandul". You can find many other words similar to it that will have ties to African dialects.
