Hi Jordan! It's so exciting that you are going to visit Peru! In my Spanish class I have learned a lot about Peru, here are some things about their culture I think you may enjoy. Peru is the source of the Amazon river, which means that the Amazon river starts in Peru! You should visit the Amazon river. The food in Peru is very good because they grow so many crops there. The climate is ideal for vegetables and the local food is sure to be very fresh and yummy! People in Peru work very hard and they work around 48 hours per week which is one of the longest in the world!

Some aspects of Peruvian culture that are similar to North America are, as follows. Peru has a national anthem as well! Both the United States and Peru had to fight in war to gain their independence, so they both have a very strong feeling of pride. In Peru there are many Universities, just like America! Maybe you could visit one!

America and Peru are also very different. The mean years of schooling in Peru is only about 9 years, whereas in America it is 13! In Peru it is normal to kiss on the cheek as a way to greet someone, in America it is likely that would be frowned upon. When you buy something at a brick and mortar store in Peru sales tax is about 18%!! In the US the highest it is is around 9-10%!
