El Banco de México (Banxico) inauguró la nueva planta de billetes en el municipio de El Salto, Jalisco, la cual se estima fabrique una tercera parte de la producción nacional de billetes de todas las denominaciones.

El instituto central precisó en un comunicado que considerando la demanda de billetes a largo plazo y la necesidad de mitigar riesgos de concentrar la producción nacional de billetes en un solo sitio, se decidió, desde hace ocho años, planear la construcción y operación de una nueva fábrica de billetes.

Señaló que tras diversos análisis, se planeó construir la nueva fábrica en Jalisco, por su situación geográfica, su dotación de infraestructura de comunicaciones y las complementariedades que se podían crear con la Caja Regional del Banco de México, existente en la entidad. Los trabajos de construcción se iniciaron en 2015.
