Anna is a student in an english course. she is writing about the great depression and women's access to employment during the period in question. she begins searching by looking for a source that specifically addresses this topic. after she is unable to locate such a source, though, she decides to break up her research topic into sources that touch on various parts of the topic like women in the great depression, the great depression and unemployment, and other relevant topics. she can then pull the various pieces of information together from the different sources in order to answer her question about the great depression. her method for locating sources is a good example of how she has achieved threshold concept.
