Carmen's purpose is to establish a relationship with the care teacher, develop her communication skills further and enhance her vocabulary. She may also be developing a sense of humor. She feels that the more funny words she shoots  out, the more the care teacher will give her attention and the more she will like her. It is her way of bonding with the care teacher. She also practices her vocabulary skills by repeating words that she finds are of  the 'funny words' category. This way she is actually processing the words she has learned or heard before in her mind.
