Compare and contrast buddism and hinduism. why are these two faiths often grouped together as dharmic faiths?

Both Buddhism and Hinduism are often grouped together as dharmic faiths. This is because dharmic faiths are the religions that were originated in the Indian region. Buddhism and Hinduism are two religions that were founded and created in India.

By sharing the same culture and regional context, both religions share some aspects. One of the similarities they share is the belief in reincarnation,  also they share the concept that the attachment to material things and to people can lead to suffering. They both encourage the practice of meditation and the importance of acquiring enlightenment.

On the other hand, there are certain aspects of both faiths that make them different from each other. One of them is the fact that Buddhists believe that anyone can achieve enlightenment, where Hindus have a caste system, in which not everyone can achieve enlightenment. Also, in traditional Buddhism there are no gods, while Hinduism is known for the hundreds of gods they praise.

In general, both faiths share the same cultural context and certain beliefs, but it can be said that Buddhism took certain aspects from Hinduism, and made certain critiques to it at the same time.
