North Carolina Senator
My name is Jewlee, I'm 14 and I go to Holbrook middle school. I picked to write about the North Carolina Senator because I found it interesting. I like how it's all put together and all of the evidence there is for it and all of the history for it also. North Carolina is a state in the Southeastern region of the United States. North Carolina is the 28th largest and 9th-most populous of the 50 United States. It is bordered by Virginia to the north, the Atlantic Ocean to the east, Georgia and South Carolina to the south, and Tennessee to the west. Richard Burr is the senator of North Carolina. In office January 3, 2015 – May 15, 2020. He’s from Charlottesville,VA. He is 65 years old.Richard Mauze Burr is an American businessman and politician who is the senior United States Senator from North Carolina, serving since 2005. A member of the Republican Party, Burr was previously a member of the United States House of Representatives. He is the dean of North Carolina's congressional delegation. Community funding priorities are congressionally directed spending requests submitted to Members of Congress by nonprofits and public entities to be considered by the Senate Appropriations Committee for inclusion in the request’s respective appropriations bill. Each request must meet strict eligibility guidelines and requires certification of no financial interest in the community funding priority by the Member or the Member’s family.Since September 11, 2001, our nation has been combatting enemies who seek to threaten and eventually destroy our exceptional country. While the threat in recent years has come primarily from radical Islamic terrorists, we have also witnessed the emergence of an aggressive Russia with ambitions to undermine our longstanding alliances abroad. I think they shouldn't be having family’s pay a lot of their money just for a job. They can let them have a meeting to see if they're good for it and pay a little bit of money but not alot of money because those people can be saving that money and spend it on their family and kids. I think they can just find a way to save the money they get and so they don't have to have the people who want a job give all their money to them. They can set up meetings like job interviews and conferences. Thom has been a longtime supporter of the solar industry, which supports 7,621 jobs, provides nearly $7 million in economic impact, and powers more than 530,000 homes across the state.
During his time in the North Carolina General Assembly, Thom worked to negotiate a 12.5% renewable portfolio standard for the state. This was an important step that allowed North Carolina to become a leader in renewable energy with tangible goals for integrating new technologies in the grid. North Carolina now serves as an example for other states wishing to diversify their energy infrastructure, increase resiliency, and reduce costs to ratepayers by integrating renewable energy generation sources. Thom has continued these efforts in Congress, urging the Trump Administration to consider the negative impact solar tariffs are causing to the growth and investment in North Carolina’s solar industry. He has advocated for “right-sizing” the tariff so our state can continue to create better-paying jobs and develop innovative renewable technology.People try to help and save their friends and family from spending too much just for a job. That's why we need the new generation to help with that.!! Thank you for reading this. I hope it helps and you can help people in the future with this problem.
