Why was nepal declared a secular state​

Secularism is the separation of state from religion. It means religion has no role to play in how a country is governed. A secular state has no official religion and treats everyone equally regardless of their religious beliefs. It means that no one is discriminated against in the name of religion. Hindus, Buddhists, Muslims, Christians, atheists all have equal rights.

Modern, liberal and forward-looking people support secularism and want to make their country secular. Religious, conservative and backward-looking people are against secularism and want to give their country a Christian, Islamic, Buddhist, Hindu or whatever identity.

Nepal being a multi-religious and multi-ethnic country, secularism is the natural choice for all intelligent and thinking Nepalis. As such, Nepal was declared a secular state in the Constitution of Nepal 2015 AD
