Egypt and Mesopotamia had their own river valleys to start with. Based on history most great civilization had this geographical condition that helped them gain their prosperous condition. The rivers provided them with sufficient water for the community and their crops, it was also used to travel faster and create trade.

Mesopotamia had Tigris and Euphrates as their river system while Egypt has the Nile River. Similarly, China has the Yellow River Valley which also was a place for their civilization.
