How have women and minorities used the constitution and the courts to expand their rights?

The fourteenth amendment was clear on providing equal protection. An Act was created to support it was called as The Civil Rights Act of 1964. It pointed race, color, sex and religion as part of equality to ensure that discrimination among these are covered especially on employment conditions.
