Rule of law means that everyone in a society must follow the laws equally - both people and businesses as well as institutions. Elections to choose officials to stand for the people's interests in the work of government reflect the principle of Representative government. We recently just had an election where the people voted and chose their congressman and councilmans as well as the President.
