How did World War II help India gain independence? Respond using complete sentences.

India fought along side British in WW2. Also some Indian forces joined hands with Japnese army and few with German army. Revolt of Indian sailers in Bombay port shook British belief that armed forces would stay loyal with the crown. WW2 also financially weakened British empire to an extent that ruling India started proving hard. The administrative expenses were putting too much pressure on British treasury which was already weakened by the war. All these combined effects helped India to gain independence.
