Mary just turned 63 which is generally the time those working in her company choose to retire. However, Mary's husband passed away a few years ago and her children are all grown and live out of state so she had decided to not retire
yet and continue working at the company she really enjoyed. The CEO of the company called her to his office
and Mary felt sure it was just to thank her for her 30 years of service and wish her a happy birthday. When she arrived at his office he did both of the those things, but then
explained to her that it was not her decision whether to continue working or not. The new company policy put into place the previous year stated that all employees were
eligible to retire at age 60, however, they could stay on until the month of their 63rd birthday but then they would have to retire. This scenario shows that Mary is
experiencing
in the company she works for.
