The Preamble to the Constitution of the United States is a kind of introductory text where the basic guidelines and objectives of the Constitution are established, seeking a more perfect union, given that the previous union under the Articles of Confederation had utterly failed.

Regarding the Declaration of Independence, the Preamble affirms the basic precepts of natural law (right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness) that are guaranteed there, through the promotion of general well-being and the assuring the blessings of liberty for all Americans.

In itself, the Preamble follows the same liberal guidelines as the Declaration of Independence, as it also arises from the political group of the Founding Fathers of the United States.
