Sovyet atom bombası projesi (Rusça: Советский проект атомной бомбы, Sovetskiy proyekt atomnoy bomby), Sovyetler Birliği Komünist Partisi Genel Sekreteri Josef Stalin'in II. Dünya Savaşı sırasında Sovyetler Birliği'nin nükleer silah geliştirmesi için yetkilendirdiği[1] araştırma ve geliştirme programı.[2][3]

1945'te II. Dünya Savaşı'nı resmi olarak sona erdiren Japon İmparatorluğu'ndaki Hiroşima ve Nagasaki'ye atom bombası saldırısının öğrenilmesinin ardından program ağırlıklı olarak Nazi silah projesi ve ABD Manhattan Projesi hakkında etkili istihbarat toplanması yoluyla devam etti.[10] Sovyetler yakalanan Nazi bilim insanlarını programlarına katmak için yoğun çaba harcadı ve program yoğun olarak Sovyet istihbarat teşkilatlarına gelen casusluk bilgileriyle devam etti.[11]

29 Ağustos 1949 tarihinde Kazakistan Sovyet Sosyalist Cumhuriyeti'nin Semey şehrinde ABD'nin Fat Man tasarımına dayanan ve RDS-1 adı verilen ilk başarılı atom bombası testini gizlice gerçekleştirdi.[2]
