The solution to the prisoner's dilemma game is a Nash equilibrium, the reason being, no player can improve his or her payoff by changing strategy unilaterally.In this game, two criminals are arrested and each is held in solitary confinement with no means of communicating with the other.The Nash equilibrium in this example is for both players to betray each other. However, if both prisoners cooperate each other, it can lead to a better outcome, like in a society. This why  a Prisoner's Dilemma game not the absolute best result for the society.
