There was also issue between states with trading and slavery. the America had no power under the articles of confederation. the US constitution established a strong centralized government that could protect its people. this set up a federal democratic republic. America could now have a federal tax, a central military, it can more efficiently settle issues between states, and it protects states rights and the people’s rights.
