Confucianism teaching contains a set of virtues that are advocated for people in order to obtain a peaceful life. It also highlight the specific roles that should be followed by citizens and the government in order to obtain that peace.

Confucian belief advocated the citizens to cultivate themselves through education and character development. Only if they possess knowledge and discipline they can be useful to the society.

As for the government, the Confucian beliefs promote the perspective that the government received mandate from heavens to protect and take care of the citizen. It is also advocated that the government should pay attention to military  strength in order to protect the citizens from potential invasions.
