What will happen if there are no trees explain its effects and our responsibility

Well if there were no trees to start off with, humanity could cease to exist and the earth would be either a huge lake with volcanoes or just volcanoes and the atmosphere would contain carbon dioxide and maybe nitrogen. But if they cease to exist in modern day society, we would be able to survivea few more years due to the oxygen currently in our atmosphere.As well as this, our responsibility could be scientists and biologists finding a way to maintain oxygen in our atmosphere.
