The French and Indian War was fought to decide if Britain or France would be the strong power in North America. France and its colonists and Indian allies fought against Britain, its colonists and Indian allies. ... The Indians became worried that they would lose the use of their land.

Native Americans became involved in the conflict to secure British support for their own war against the United States. Led by Tecumseh, they played a key role in defending Canada. However an American victory at the battle of the Thames in October 1813 led to Tecumseh’s death and the break-up of his Native American coalition. For Native Americans, the outcome of the war was a catastrophe – they were never again able to find external allies or threaten to roll back the American frontier.

So the simple

The Natives actually fought for both sides. Some natives fought for the Patriots and some fought for the British. The Natives fought the Patriots side becuase they were allies with France. And, you may know that France supported the Patriotis. The Natives wanted there lands back.

The Natives fought also on the British side. On the British side, they were promised to get there freedom, if the British had won.
