What are the side effects of packaging materials in textile industry?

Packaging materials are a byproduct of the clothing and textile industry and many are made with plastics and non-biodegradable materials that add to the harm this industry causes the environment.

Explanation:

The fashion industry is one of the most polluting in the world because high levels of competition leads companies to try to find ways to lower costs which means less concern for working conditions and less concern for the environmental impacts of using synthetic fibers and plastics.  The types of packaging used in the textile industry are: bags , boxes , cartons , cases, crates,  twine, and plastic wrappers.  Unfortunately, used clothes are rarely recollected for reuse or recycling. Only 1 % of all clothing is recycled into new clothes. The packaging for new clothes includes waste generated by the packaging, tags,  hangers, and bags. These packaging materials fill landfills and create waste, especially when non-biodegradable materials are used and hangers for example are not repurposed or recycled.  The tags that are used on clothing to describe the product and show the price can also be reduced or made in sustainable ways. The manufacturing of labels for the garment industry use plastics, dies, and paper as well.
