In this lesson, you learned about problems faced by Americans during the Second Industrial Revolution and what people did to overcome them. One solution, the Social Gospel movement, relied on people volunteering their time and effort to improve social conditions for others. Today, there are many people who volunteer their time to help society at places like soup kitchens, hospice houses, and boys and girls clubs. To find out more about past and current social problems and how volunteers attempt to solve them, you will complete the 2.07 Chart and respond to a reflection question.

To complete this assessment, you will:

Identify three social problems, such as child labor or tenement housing, discussed in the lesson and research ways in which government regulations or organizations have helped address these issues. Use this information to complete the Social Problems and Solutions Chart responding to a reflection question.
Respond to the reflection question below the chart.
