Many of the colonists remain divided during the revolution because of economic and political reasons. Those who supported independence were the Patriots, and those who remained against the war were the Loyalists. The patriots carried fight because they no longer wanted to suffer. Whereas, the Loyalist wanted peaceful reconciliation with the British Government because of economic reasons.
