How often do we vote for the Senate?

Members of the House of Representatives serve two-year terms and are considered for reelection every even year. Senators however, serve six-year terms and elections to the Senate are staggered over even years so that only about 1/3 of the Senate is up for reelection during any election.

Here are how long we vote for government officals:

House of Representatives: every 2 years (4 years with re-election)

Governor: Every 4 years (8 years with re-election)

Senator: Every 6 years (12 years with re-election)

President: Every 4 years (8 years with re-election)
